The Hadley School for the Blind held its 2008 Annual Meeting on October 16 at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, IL. Trustees, donors, guests and Hadley staff gathered together to celebrate the winners of the 2008 Student Awards. Among those present were The Hadley School for the Blind’s 2008 President’s Award winners: Frank Simpson, superintendent, the Lavelle School for the Blind; and Linda Alsop, director-Deafblind Projects, Utah State University. The President’s Award is given at the discretion of the president to a group or individual demonstrating exceptional spirit in raising awareness of the needs and abilities of people who are visually impaired or blind.
Congressman Mark Kirk presented the school’s leadership with a congressional resolution honoring the school’s commitment to thousands of students worldwide. The bipartisan resolution (H. Res. 875) was passed in the U.S. House of Representatives in October.
Upon receiving their awards, the student award winners had a chance to share their stories, accomplishments and appreciation for Hadley. Watch the evening’s events by accessing the link below.
